About

Technology should enhance the artwork, not compete with it

What Exe.Vision is

Exe.Vision is an interactive multimedia exhibition that runs on the phone already in your hand. Point your camera at an artwork on display and it opens into three dimensions — its layers, its structure, its story. There is no app to install and no account to create.

Every artwork can also be explored without a camera, with its image, a written description, narration and a transcript, and a description of what the augmented-reality experience shows.

How it works

The website recognises each artwork using the camera on your device. Recognition happens on the phone itself: the camera image never leaves it. Artworks you have already opened are saved on your device, so they keep working when the gallery Wi-Fi does not.

What guides the design

  • The artwork comes first. Controls appear only when there is something to act on.
  • Nobody needs technical knowledge. Instructions are short, concrete and in order.
  • AR unavailable never means experience unavailable. The camera-free exhibition is part of the product, not a fallback.
  • Accessibility is designed in. See the accessibility statement.
